Relationship Breakdown
Self Esteem
Spiritual

Relationship breakdown including separation and divorce can create feelings of despair, anxiety, and disorientation.

A broken relationship is a significant wound to self esteem, status and sense of belonging. It can isolate you from the people you expected to be there for you. It is divisive and painful. No one should have to suffer alone but many do.

Navigating loss is difficult but the loss of a loved one, through relationship breakdown can be emotionally devastating, especially if you are a Christian, making it more difficult to come to terms with. Counselling can help you make sense of what has happened.

I can help you work through the emotional, physical and practical implications empowering you to  face the future confidently.

How we feel about ourselves is one of the most profound determinants of how we experience our lives.

Poor self esteem robs us of connection and the ability to be open and free. Loving ourself and developing self-esteem provides resilience when we make mistakes or get hurt in relationships.

A negative view of oneself grows out of our needs not being met in childhood. Some of us believe we have to be hard on ourselves in order to find the drive we need, but self-criticism has actually been proven to drain motivation.

Feeling valued is such a gift and valuing yourself even more important.

Self compassion is a powerful attitude of kindness and love directed to ward oneself-the kind of loving response we would give to a friend. Self-compassion may be the single most powerful tool towards healing and development and is a cornerstone of the work I do.

Many Christians find having a counsellor who understands their worldview helpful, enabling them to express themselves without fear of being misunderstood or judged.

If you and your faith are inextricably linked then exploring your current circumstances through a lens of faith may be the most significant thing you can do for yourself right now.

You may find it helpful to consider where God is in your circumstances. You may have grown up with beliefs which are contrary to your present experiences and want to know how God fits in and how your faith can help you.

Christian counselling is not just a space to talk about faith issues, but can help with an array of struggles like depression, anxiety, loss and relationship issues.
